My favorite Black and Latino Twins players of the 60’s

Growing up a baseball player and having one of the best baseball card collections in the neighborhood, when the Twins came to town it created a whole new excitement for us young players.  Curating an exhibit with Ramsey County Historical Society and authoring a book published by Minnesota Historical Society Press, has been a great learning experience for me and I hope the product has brought some “untold stories and history,” to people about Black Baseball in Minnesota.

Following are 13 players that brought excitement to me and my friends as we watched and listened to the Twins.  I thought it was important to share my favorites of the 60’s because baseball while moving forward still had it’s challenges with players of color and all teams creating complete equity for all players.  These were some of our heroes growing up and a couple of them lived in the Rondo neighborhood.

I added the players, included their seasons as Twins and added a link to Baseball Reference.com for individuals that would like to take a closer look at their career stats.

I want to say that I had many favorite Twins players, but for the purpose of my web site and sharing history on Black Baseball, I’ve only included (at this time), the players of the 60’s.
